Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. See, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the people, but the Lord rises upon you, and his glory appears over you Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
In a world consumed with self-promotion, image, and influence, true value often goes unseen. We live in a society where people are more concerned with being seen as valuable than with seeing the value in others. But what if the greatest power isn’t in being noticed, but in recognizing through the eyes of the Spirit the worth God has hidden in someone else?
The Ancient Passion Letters from Papa (as we call the bible) reminds us of a profound truth:
“Let both grow together until the harvest: at that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.”
Matthew 13:30 (NIV)
This verse spoken by Jesus is a spiritual principle on discernment and timing. It teaches us not to uproot people too quickly, don’t cancel, discard, or mislabel what God is still developing. Sometimes the greatest treasure is wrapped in a person who doesn’t even know who they are yet.
Value is a Spiritual Matter
God sees value differently than we do.
“People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
God chose David, a shepherd overlooked by his family to be king. Why? Because His eye is trained to see greatness long before it becomes public. That same Spirit now lives in us. We are invited to look at people with kingdom eyes, to discern what’s inside someone’s spirit before the world affirms it.
You don’t need someone to look “successful” to be valuable. You need spiritual eyes to see the seed of greatness in them.
How Do You Recognize Value in Others?
1. Ask God for Vision, Not Just Sight.
Sight shows you what’s on the surface, and vision shows you destiny.
2. Listen Deeply.
The value in a person is often tucked in the quiet places of their story, pain, and dreams. Pay attention.
3. Be Slow to Judge.
We often miss God’s hidden jewels because they don't come wrapped in what we're used to. Don’t disqualify what God qualified.
4. Look for Fruit, Not Flash.
Fruit takes time to grow, but it’s proof of roots.
